Description

Pipe crusher grates are designed to retain and crush wastes from industrial and domestic wastewater without removing them from the flow. This equipment completely prevents the possible failure of pumps and ensures uninterrupted operation at further stages of wastewater treatment.

Scope of application of grates-crushers on the pipe:

  • Sewage pumping stations;
  • Wastewater and liquid domestic waste reception stations;
  • Mechanical sludge dewatering plants;
  • Sludge stabilization plants (digesters).
The main purpose of using grids-crushers on the pipe is to ensure reliable and uninterrupted operation of technological, pumping equipment and valves.

The principle of operation of crusher grids on the pipe:

The crusher grate is designed as a crusher placed in a housing with flanges. This design feature allows easy access to the working part of the crusher without the need to dismantle the device from the pipeline. If it is necessary to continue wastewater reception operation, it is possible to easily plug the upper connector of the crusher housing and resume wastewater or sludge supply.

The wastewater flows into the crushing unit, where the coarse debris contained in the flow is trapped on the surface of the milling rollers and during their rotation is crushed to particle sizes that do not interfere with the operation of the pumping equipment and further movement of the water flow.

Reliability, long service life and cost-effectiveness of crushers on Ekoton pipe:

  • Crusher mounting frames and bodies are made of AISI 304 stainless steel.
  • Cutters and shafts are made of hardened alloy steel. At the customer's request, they can be made of steel of particularly high hardness, which is characterized by increased wear resistance and structural strength.
  • The materials used in combination significantly extend the service life of the products and provide additional cost savings.

Technical features and advantages of grids-crushers on Ekoton pipe:

  • Full protection of the bearing units against sand, dirt and water, as the mechanical seals are coated with tungsten carbide.
  • Automatic protection against jamming by solid inclusions is provided by reversing the rotation of the cutters (reverse) and restarting them.
  • In case of clogging of blades and increase of current consumption, the motor is automatically reversed for a short time. If after five cycles of forward/reverse rotation the current consumption remains significantly higher than the rated current, the grating stops and an alarm signal lights up on the control panel.
  • Pipe crusher grates operate in automatic mode, which eliminates the constant presence of site personnel and ensures smooth and safe operation of the entire complex of pumping equipment.

Question-answer

Why is it necessary to pulverize the scum in the water stream rather than removing it immediately?

Scum can damage effluent pump station equipment. Urban pumping stations are most often located around residences or near public areas. Extracting scum from runoff involves its temporary storage and transportation, which disrupts the sanitation of the area. In addition, pumping stations are often located at considerable depths and transporting the waste is technically difficult

How does the presence of sand in the wastewater affect the performance of the Ekoton pipe crusher grates?

Abrasive particles reduce the resource of any equipment and to counteract them in the design of crushers we have implemented a number of design and technological solutions. In Ekoton crusher grates we have applied tungsten carbide mechanical seals and cutters made of especially durable material. This guarantees the durability of the units in the presence of sand contained in wastewater.
