Characteristics
Description
Penstocks is designed to control the flow of liquids, regulate the level and/or completely shut off the flow and can be installed in channels and openings of any size and shape, open or closed openings, on pipelines, to operate in gravity tanks or under pressure. Depending on the installation conditions, the gates can be divided into surface and depth gates. Based on the purpose of application, the equipment is divided into locking, regulating and distributing. Simplicity and convenience in operation along with high quality of used materials, mechanical reliability of construction and automation capabilities allow to use gate valves effectively in various climatic and operational conditions.
Main application areas of sewer gates
sewage treatment plants
water treatment plants
industrial enterprises
hydrotechnical and land reclamation facilities
Types of sewer gates and their application area:
DEEP GATES - for complete blocking of flow (open / close) in closed channels and openings mainly rectangular, circular and semicircular in shape, on pipelines, in gravity tanks or under pressure. When the gate is open, the liquid flow through the channel passes through the lower part of the frame. When it is necessary to shut off the flow, the shaft of the electric actuator or hand wheel is rotated, which is connected to the lifting screw and transmits the force to the gate shield. The shield, lowering, closes the liquid flow in the lower position.
SURFACE GATES - for complete flow shutoff (open/close) in open channels and openings of mainly rectangular, circular and semicircular shape, in gravity tanks. When the gate is open, the flow of liquid flowing through the channel passes through the lower part of the frame. When it is necessary to shut off the flow, the shaft of the electric actuator or hand wheel is rotated, which is connected to the lifting screw and transmits the force to the gate shield. The shield, lowering, closes the liquid flow in the lower position.
REGULATING GATES - regulation of liquid level, including complete shutoff of flow (without pressure) in gravity tanks, open channels and openings. An open shield gate allows liquid flow through the top of the frame, with the overflow edge of the shield located at the lower MIN level. Partial or complete shutoff of flow is accomplished by raising the shield by means of a lifting screw operated by a hand wheel or electric motor, with the overflow edge of the shield not allowed to rise above the MAX level. The shield can be fixed at any height from MIN to MAX to ensure the required liquid level. The screw is fixed directly on the shield, moving with it (retractable).
SHANDOR SHUTTERS - for temporary shut-off during repair and installation works in gravity tanks and open channels. The shield is lowered into the frame by means of hoisting devices, providing temporary leak-free flow shutoff during repair and installation works. The shield closes the flow in the lower position, enters the frame through the hollow top rail and moves by touching the side guide strips to the bottom rail.
SEGMENT GATES - for maintenance and repair of the main gate installed next to it, for redistribution of flow in gravity tanks and open channels. For temporary flow blocking, the shield segments are installed in a frame mounted in the channel. A seal is provided between the shield segments, which, in combination with the clamping mechanism, increases the tightness of the gate in the closed state.
DISPLAYING WATER FLOW - for adjusting and maintaining a constant liquid level in channels and tanks. Starting the actuator causes the screw to turn and raise/lower the gate to a predetermined spillway operating position corresponding to a specific liquid level in the discharge channel or tank. To ensure tightness, a gasket is installed on the side vertical walls of the gate frame. The tight fit of the gasket to the frame walls prevents leakage on the side edges of the gate.
FLOW DIVIDER - for dividing the flow (full/partial), regulating and changing the flow direction in channels and tanks. Flow control is accomplished by changing the position of the gate shield in relation to the direction of flow. Sealing gaskets are installed on the end and bottom of the gate to prevent leakage after closing the drain channels.
Advantages of Penstocks
Tightness to the highest standards. The gates can withstand hydrostatic pressure up to 1 bar, optionally higher. Permissible leakage rate of 0.02 l/s/m (according to DIN 19569-4, class 4). The equipment is tested for tightness on the factory test bench, which provides quality control of the products and allows to achieve a higher level of tightness. Sealing of the produced gates ensures their operation in one- and two-way flow direction. Gate seals are made of EPDM (optionally NBR), they are highly resistant to aggressive media, resistant to hydro-mechanical impact.
Reliability and durability. Perfect mating of body parts and mechanisms due to application of high-precision production technologies. High corrosion resistance achieved by using stainless steel AISI 304, AISI 316 (other - on request), plastic and bronze. After welding the product undergoes a full cycle of anti-corrosion treatment: volumetric (acid) etching and passivation with special agents.
Convenience in operation and maintenance. The use of high quality components and time-tested technical solutions ensures a long service life of the equipment and minimizes the need for maintenance work. During operation, maintenance is limited to periodic replacement of the seal and lubrication of the propeller and bearings, which ensures low operating costs and low involvement of maintenance personnel. The design allows easy replacement of the gasket. A transparent cover for the retractable propeller can be manufactured to protect it from contamination and allow visual inspection of the gate opening, as well as a cover for the ground part of the frame.
Control and automation. Motor-reducers from leading European manufacturers (AUMA, ROTORK) with frequency control allow flexible control of equipment operation and significantly reduce power consumption. Built-in dispatching function allows remote monitoring of the control cabinet operation status as a whole (dry contacts). Electrical protection against overload and voltage surges is provided. The protection degree of the actuator IP 68 allows flooding to a depth of 1m. The gate with electric actuator is completed with control cabinet and optionally with control unit (MATIC, AUMATIC), fully customized at the production site, which allows the gate to be put into operation without additional efforts on the part of the customer. Additionally, the gate valves can be designed with the option of replacing the hand wheel with an electric actuator or manual gearbox.
